Last year around this time, I bought Matt a pair of house shoes. And he loved them. He wore them so much that I recently noticed they were on their last legs. I told him I was going to throw them out and get him a new pair. He immediately told me,
no. I ignored him, and decided to snatch them up when he wasn't looking and trash them. Sounds cruel, I know, separating a man and his beloved shoes. But they were literally falling to pieces. And gross.
And then, tonight, he came walking into the living room, happily wearing his newly self-repaired shoes.
Just in case you're wondering, that is neon green duct tape. Yeah, I said duct tape. He was so proud of himself. I didn't even have words to respond.
Oh, and just for good measure.... it's glow-in-the-dark duct tape. I can see him coming a mile away. Oh, Matt. You make my life so interesting. What would I do without you??

My first thought when I saw that picture was, "Dear Lord, please tell me that is NOT duct tape on those shoes!" Sure enough. That boy was born and bred in Arkansas for sure! Although I have to say, if you're not going to wear a pair of house shoes OUT of the house, why not. That is the thrifty, albeit incredibly unfashionable, way to handle it.
I think that he needs a pair of slippers more than an iPad for his birthday!
Ha! That's awesome. He'll never lose those babies! I can say that I've seen duct tape on shoes before, but never lime green, glow in the dark duct tape!
And hey, a little more duct tape strategically placed and they'll almost look like Toms!
LOL. Duck tape DOES fix everything I guess! My husband had wallet that he put back together with duck tape. I chunked that sucker as soon as I got the chance!
How funny! Duck Tape is the fix all tape. When we lose shoes off our horses and are away, we use duck tape. When they have a cut on their feet, we build a medicine boot out of duck tape! Fix all! i am with you Matt! LOL
