Ava Isabelle is FIVE!

Today Belle turns five years old. Matt and I were talking last night about how unbelievable that is to us. It literally seems like yesterday when we found out she was on the way. "They grow up so fast" takes on a whole new meaning when you become a parent.

Yesterday at the K-4 program, Belle was presented with an award for "optimism," and I think they got it right. She is so happy go lucky, without a care in the world most of the time. She is creative and funny and kind hearted--all the things I prayed she would be. I could not ask for a sweeter, more beautiful little girl.

So, Happy Birthday my little optimist. We love you so much.

My Little Lady Bug

Belle's K-4 class had their end of the year performance today. The little boys were lightening bugs and the little girls were lady bugs. It was adorable, and of course, Belle ate it up. She had her very own line and said it loudly into the microphone. "I know! I can be a goodness bug!" I was so proud. I can't believe my little baby girl will be five tomorrow.

Kids Night of Worship

Belle and Dru performed last night in FBCS's Kids Night of Worship. They thought they were quite the superstars and did a great job. Jeb watched from the audience and was a very proud little brother.

Check up!

Jeb at 2 days
Jeb at 2 months

Jeb had his 2 month check up yesterday. He weighed 11 1/2 pounds and was 23 inches long. That means he's grown 3 inches longer and 4 1/2 pounds heavier since birth. It's amazing to me how quickly they change and grow. Have I mentioned lately how much I love and adore this little boy? We all do... even his big sisters. And ESPECIALLY his daddy. Almost every day Matt asks him, "So when are you gonna be big enough to go fishin' with me?" They are going to be trouble when that day comes.

Just pictures

What is wrong with me? This is my 3rd post in a week and can only solidify my husband's idea that as a stay at home mom, I have tons of free time, eat bon bons, and watch Oprah all day. (I'm growling just thinking about that.) I really don't know the reason for my excessive posts. Just had to share a couple more pictures.

Must be doing something right...

Two posts in two days... that's got to be a record or something. I know, I'm a dorky, proud mommy, but I just had to post these pictures Belle drew this afternoon. With NO prompting, she brought me this picture and said, "Look, Mommy. I drew Jesus on the cross." It is the sweetest thing, and it reminded me that even in those moments when I think I'm a big fat mommy failure, Matt and I must be doing something right. I'm also posting another drawing she did of Jonah in the whale. She called it "Noah" and the whale, but the child can't be perfect all the time!! (P.S. She has another loose tooth in front. My poor, toothless child.)

Their Anniversary

Today Grandma and Grandpa would have been married 67 years. (For anyone who may not know, Grandma and Grandpa raised me from day one.) We lost Grandma suddenly in August 2005 to an infection of the pancreas. It never once occurred to me that she would go first. Grandpa has done really well by himself but misses her so much. I know today has been hard on him, but I think in some way, Grandma going to Heaven has made him 'ready' himself. I don't think he fears death like he once did. The reward there is now so much sweeter for him.

I love these pictures. To some they may seem morbid, but to me they're equally beautiful. The first was taken April 13, 1941, their wedding day and is the only picture that exists of that day. The second was taken some time last spring, I think, at Grandma's grave, and both pictures (to me at least) are just so precious.

I love that song that says, I just wanna be with you. Just want this waiting to be over. Just wanna be with you, and it helps to know the day is getting closer. I believe that's how Grandpa feels about getting to Heaven. There is so much to look forward to.

Matt's Marathon

Matt finished the marathon! I will say that he placed third in his age bracket and just leave it at that. The awesome thing is.... HE FINISHED! For those of you who, like me, don't know how long a marathon actually is, it is 26.2 miles. YIKES! Plus we are told that the Hogeye is one of the more difficult ones to run. We are really proud of him.

The really neat thing is that the girls were able to cross the finish line with him. After he crossed he was given a medal for finishing, and the girls are 100% convinced that he won. I may have more pictures to post later. He is still recovering and says he doubts that he ever does it again. After I had Jeb the nurse told me that labor has been compared to finishing a full marathon, so Matt has to do it at least twice more just to catch up with me!! I've done 3!

Zach's Video

Here is a link to our friend, Zach's, short film. It's a modern-day retelling of Jesus' trial and death. It 'premiered' at church on Sunday and is so good. If you haven't already, go check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9v1F-yWunA
