It's Tricky

Jeb got a super cool Run DMC shirt for Christmas, and his daddy got super cool new glasses--both blog worthy items that must be documented here in photographs. Check Jeb's faux hawk--the only appropriate hairstyle to go with a Run DMC t-shirt. (High five to all of you who understood that title and will be singing the only words you know to the song--not necessarily the RIGHT words, but YOUR words--for the rest of the day.)

Christmas 2008

We had a really nice Christmas, beginning with a trip home to Grandpa's with family we don't get to see enough and always miss. Afterwards, we spent Christmas Eve night at home and woke up here Christmas morning. Santa brought the girls a new trampoline, and they were so excited to see it in the backyard topped with a big red bow. We went to Matt's parents afterwards and opened gifts with his family which is always fun. It was a great time.

Santa brought us a new camera, so hopefully I'll have more pictures to share... better quality ones anyway. Here are a few from our holiday break. I'm sure there will be more to come....

Trying out the new camera in Paw-paw's backyard.

More practicing with the camera...

This picture just makes me laugh. I think this is his super secret double agent face.

Drusy got a "hat like Mommy's" in her stocking via special request.

We had no cookies, so Santa got Jello Pudding and milk. We're not afraid to mix it up a bit.

Card Out-takes, Belle's Night Out with Daddy, ED's Last Day, and Our Christmas Creations

There were plenty of these to choose from. Not enough room here to show all...

Matt took Belle to the Razorback game earlier this week. While he wasn't looking, I dressed her in this. I wasn't sure he was going to leave the house with her. He said people stopped them all night. She even got on the big screen. I am so funny.

'Stella wanted to make sure I got her red shoes in the picture. She was supposed to wear a Christmas outfit to school for her last day. This was the best I could do.

This is the army of gingerbread men I made for Belle's class. They were a hit except for the cinnamon buttons which were, in Belle's words, "...way too hot for anyone to actually eat, so we all threw them in the trash." Great.

I was feeling bad for not attempting a gingerbread house, so instead of going all out, we made this using graham crackers. Not bad, I thought.

Blog Card

I tried. I really really did. But getting a successful Slaughter Christmas card this year just proved to be much bigger than me. Yes. I am a failure. Tonight was my final attempt at coming up with a good enough picture to stuff inside 75+ envelopes to send out to family and friends. My kids were cooperative enough. I just didn't like the final result. Therefore, I have resigned myself to the fact that doing a 'blog card' this year is acceptable. I know... I know.. it's the slacker's way out. But I've decided that this is one area in which I can take some stress off me without dire consequences. So, if you are used to receiving a card from me every year, I apologize. Just look at it this way... now instead of trudging out to your mailbox in the cold, our lovely card is only a click away. (Doesn't make me feel any better either.) MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Oh yes we did.

Absolutely horrifying. (Is this better with the blur?)

Weekend at the Rock with the Middle Child

Matt and I spent most of Friday and Saturday in Little Rock for Shiloh's state championship game. We have been looking for opportunities to split the kids up and take one at a time on 'special Mommy and Daddy' trips. We started with our middle child, and she had a great time utilizing Mommy and Daddy's undivided attention. And I think she wasn't too traumatized by being without Belle overnight for the first time ever... although at one point she did ask, "Mommy, are Belle and Jeb dead?" Awesome.

Here are some pictures from the weekend. Way to go, Shiloh! I want a hat, Josh. (Three words: Uncompensated Golf Coach.)

I may have prayed harder for the sun to come out than I did for the game. It was freeeezing.

The game.

Ringing her cow bell!

So happy to be eating at Waffle House.

Hiatus

Ok, so I apologize for taking my blog down without warning tonight. I'm afraid people thought I took access away from specific individuals. Not the case. I just need a blog break. With the book, and other issues we have going on right now, it's the best decision. After tomorrow, the blog will be down again. We would appreciate your prayers.

Cousins

Belle, Dru, and Jeb were able to spend some time with their sweet cousins, Madee and Gabe, this Thanksgiving. We took the opportunity to get some pictures that, surprisingly, turned out really well considering all the kids are 5 years old and under.

I also wanted to report I have been getting lots of writing done on my book but would appreciate your prayers.... specifically for continued motivation and most of all, opportunity. Many times the picture below describes how I go about writing which, you can understand, is not ideal. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's been a long time coming.
