Food Network Friday: Pig Cupcakes

Confession: While we did get this idea from the Food Network, it has been greatly altered (aka 'simplified'). We saw it this week on the Neely's show... pink, piggy cupcakes.

Click here for the Neely's version. We simplified by using a cake mix and store bought pink icing--not a lot of spare time on our hands this week. We used Tootsie Rolls for the eyes and nostrils and decided on red velvet cake in honor of the Steel Magnolia's armadillo cake. (My second favorite movie in the universe, by the way.) The girls may have been a little freaked out by the blood red cake, but it just made for more fun.

Here are the ones the girls did all by themselves. Have you ever seen anything so scary, yet beautiful?

And here's E Dru biting into her bleeding little piggy. I've already scheduled a therapy session

This little baking project really was a lot of fun for me and the girls. If you're wondering about the Jebster... he slept through the entire process. (Thank God. That boy is a serious mess.)

Tomorrow we draw for the dvd. Check back!

Those are so cute!!! I'll have to check the website to see how they are made....yet I agree, cake mix and pre-made icing will be the way to go lol.

I am sending special vibes to Belle and Drew to pick my name tomorrow. Lord knows I need help ( as I sit here eating my plate full of pasta) but if I am the winner i will promise to use it daily and to work really hard on my eating habits. lol sounds like a political campaign.

How fun! Your kids will remember these times forever! They did a good job on theirs!

I can't wait until my kids are old enough to bake things with me. You're an inspiration. Caden is just getting to where he wants to help me "dump" things... but his attention span is short. glad you commented on Jeb, cuz I wondered how you did it all. :0)

Side note: Notice, Ang said Steel Magolias was her second fave movie of all time....if you are curious about the first, Ahhhemmm...that would be Gone With the Wind.
Just a little thought for those of you who always wonder about the little things......

Those are adorable! There's nothing like a little bleedin' armadillo. (I can quote the entire movie, just in case you were wondering.)

And Superckikk, I can also quote the entire movie. We should have a whole Steal Magnolias conversation sometime. HA!
